Russia is ready to resume gas supplies to European countries if they wish, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in a statement to journalists on the sidelines of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit, TASS reports.
According to him, European consumers are paying extra for more expensive liquefied natural gas (LNG) due to a shortage of gas and cheap energy resources.
"For our part, we are ready for this. We have always been a reliable supplier. That is the first point. Secondly, if Europe does not buy our gas, we have other markets where we can sell it. As you know, in recent years, we have developed our infrastructure to supply countries where economies are developing and gas consumption is growing most rapidly. Therefore, Russia has no problems in this regard when it comes to selling gas. This is more of a problem for Europe," Alexander Novak said.
