Trump calls Canada's leaders clowns and threatened to worsen relations with them

US President Donald Trump called Canadian officials "clowns" and threatened to seriously worsen relations between Washington and Ottawa, APA reports.

"The United States will always be much bigger, richer, and stronger than Canada. Without the United States, Canada couldn't survive. That's where they get all their money," the American leader wrote in Truth Social. He was commenting on criticism of the US administration by Ontario Governor Douglas Ford, prompted by the sharp escalation of bilateral trade tensions.

Trump also made disparaging remarks about Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, calling him "the governor." "Because of their mismanagement, especially Governor Carney, <...> they will not be allowed to continue to rely on the United States, which is their key to survival," the American president noted. "Remember, Canada receives a large amount of its electricity, oil, and gas through the United States," Trump emphasized. He referred to Canadian leaders as "those clowns." They better "get their act together," he added, "or the consequences for Canada will be much worse."
