United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that he and US President Donald Trump want a "better future for Cuba and its long-suffering people", APA reports.
Rubio released a statement on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the July 11 demonstrations, to which "the regime responded with brutality, beating peaceful demonstrators." He claimed that Washington has always supported Cuba with humanitarian aid, and would continue to do so, "if the regime will only agree to make political and economic reforms."
Rubio vowed that the US will work to both help Cubans and neutralize the "security threats" posed by the Cuban Communist regime. Cuba’s Electric Union confirmed earlier today that the island-wide power outage struck Cuba for the second time this week due to the months-long American energy embargo.
