Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney believes his country and the United States are in a state of "trade war", APA reports.
"You go to war when you're under attack. And we've been under attack," he noted at a press conference, referring to the failure of trade talks between the two countries and the US decision to impose tariffs on Canada. "We're stronger now than when the US started this trade war. We're more united, more decisive, and more ambitious," he emphasized.
"We can't control the storm that's crashing down on us from Washington. But we can chart a new path by strengthening Canada and diversifying our trade ties abroad," Carney added. He also emphasized that "America has changed." According to Carney, under the administration of current US President Donald Trump, Washington "is imposing tariffs on its closest allies and weaponizing economic integration."
