“Despite the large-scale measures implemented for the development of the agricultural sector, Mr. President noted at the meeting the stagnation observed in the agricultural sector in our country over the past several years and openly stated that he was not satisfied with the current dynamics in agricultural production. Based on the instructions given by the head of state to the Presidential Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers, a new comprehensive and all-encompassing State Program on agricultural development has been prepared,” Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for socio-economic issues Khalid Ahadov said during his speech at the regional meeting for the Mountainous Shirvan economic region held in Ismayilli within the framework of the “State Program on the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” APA reports.
The presidential aide noted that this program is a strategic document defining a new development model for the agricultural sector for the coming period and serves as an important roadmap for increasing agricultural production, ensuring efficient use of resources, expanding processing and export opportunities, advancing value chains, and moving the fisheries and aquaculture sectors to a new stage of development.
“The main goal is not simply to increase production volumes, but to obtain higher-quality and higher-yield output per hectare, that is, to ensure the transition in the agricultural sector from an extensive approach to intensive development.
The State Program envisages ensuring sustainable development in agricultural production in 2026–2030, strengthening food security, increasing domestic production potential, productivity, added value and export orientation, accelerating the transition to an intensive and competitive production model, developing value chains in the agricultural sector, expanding farmers’ access to modern agricultural services, as well as developing the fisheries and aquaculture sectors,” he said.
