Azerbaijan's attainment of middle power status is the result of a long-term process, Chairman of the Board of the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) Farid Shafiyev said during the presentation of the "Report on the Peacekeeping Operations of the Azerbaijan Army," APA reports.
Farid Shafiyev said Azerbaijan's economic strength has increased significantly over the past 30 years, and the country has strengthened its position in the international arena. According to him, although Azerbaijan joined the United Nations relatively recently, it has consistently demonstrated an active stance in contributing to international security.
He noted that the foundation of Azerbaijan's policy of contributing to international security was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and that this course is being successfully continued today.
The AIR Center chairman added that the presented study will be used as an academic and practical source in higher education institutions as well as in other fields.
