Construction of the Asgaran–Khojaly–Khankendi highway, which will ensure shorter, more convenient, and safer travel for those visiting the cities of Khankendi, Shusha, and Lachin, is progressing successfully, State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads told APA-Economics.
The 14.1-kilometer Asgaran–Khojaly–Khankendi highway, being built as part of road infrastructure projects in the liberated territories, is being constructed in accordance with Category I technical standards. Depending on the terrain, the width of the roadbed reaches up to 26.5 meters.
Under the project, earthworks have been fully completed and the new roadbed has been constructed. Construction of the road pavement base and asphalt-concrete layers is currently ongoing.
At the same time, construction of the three bridges planned along the route, nine box culverts, 38 pipe culverts, 23 emergency crossings, as well as the installation of 14 bus stops, has already been completed.
Currently, the overall implementation rate of the project stands at 86%.
The commissioning of the Asgaran–Khojaly–Khankendi highway will make a significant contribution to improving transport links in the region, increasing the efficiency of freight and passenger transportation, as well as developing the agricultural and tourism potential.
