A presentation ceremony for the "Report on the Peacekeeping Operations of the Azerbaijan Army," jointly prepared by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), was held, APA reports.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of the AIR Center Farid Shafiyev, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense, Major General Elchin Abdullayev, members of parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, and other guests.
Speaking at the event, AIR Center Chairman Farid Shafiyev said Azerbaijan's middle power status is the result of a long-term development process spanning approximately 30 years. He noted that the presented report will serve as an important source for higher education institutions as well as other academic and practical fields.
In his speech, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense, Major General Elchin Abdullayev, stressed that the Azerbaijan Army makes a significant contribution to ensuring international peace and security. The Major General stated that current developments in the region and around the world make it necessary to further strengthen the capabilities of the Azerbaijan Army.
Member of Parliament Gulshan Pashayeva noted in her speech that more than 65,000 military personnel and other staff from 121 countries are currently participating in UN peacekeeping missions.
Colonel Abdulla Abdullayev, Head of the Planning and Coordination Division of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense, said that participation in peacekeeping operations has made a significant contribution to enhancing the Azerbaijan Army's combat capability, professionalism, and level of preparedness.
Head of the Military Security Issues Department of the Office of the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Major General Elman Samadov, emphasized in his speech that the future direction of Azerbaijan's participation in peacekeeping missions should already be planned.
The event concluded with discussions on the report, and participants' questions were answered.
