“The approval by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev of the ‘State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030’ is a clear example of the attention and care shown to the agricultural sector. The implementation of this program will ensure the country’s sustainable food security and make a significant contribution to the development of the non-oil sector,” Head of the Sabirabad District Executive Authority Siragaddin Jabbarov said during a regional meeting held in Sabirabad within the framework of the “State Program for the Development of Production and Processing of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030,” APA’s local correspondent reports.
The executive authority head noted that the decline of cotton growing in the late 1980s and early 1990s was also felt in the Sabirabad district.
“However, the decisions adopted by the President of the country regarding the development of the agricultural sector and the tasks set before it gave a boost to the development of this field and began restoring its historical glory. It is no coincidence that the first national conference dedicated to the development of cotton growing was held in the Sabirabad district on September 17, 2016, under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev, and based on the decisions adopted at that meeting, the development of this sector accelerated,” he said.
Siragaddin Jabbarov also touched upon the issue of irrigation water supply, which plays an important role in the development of the agricultural sector, and presented his proposals related to the further development of the sector.
