Minister says no increase in number of tourists in Azerbaijan in 2015

According to the minister, the growth of tourism today is not observed throughout the world due to the global economic crisis.

Garayev said that on Russian market the number of citizens traveling abroad decreased by 70 percent.

“In 2015, as many as 2.5 million tourists traveled to Azerbaijan, 700,000-800,000 of them came from Russia. If there is 70 percent decline on Russian market, how can the figure increase in Azerbaijan? It is impossible. However, it is gratifying that there are newcomers from new markets, especially from the Gulf, European and Latin American countries”, said the minister.

According to Garayev, there is an increase in the influx of tourists from the countries in which Azerbaijan took part in the exhibitions.
