Total expenditures on the Shah Deniz gas condensate field amounted to $3 billion 80 million during the first three quarters of this year, APA-Economics reports, citing bp's report on the results of its operations in Azerbaijan for the first nine months of 2026.
According to the report, approximately $2 billion 2 million in operating expenditures and around $1 billion 78 million in capital expenditures were spent on Shah Deniz activities during the reporting period.
It was reported that during the first nine months of the year, a total of approximately 20 billion standard cubic meters of gas and around 3 million tons (approximately 21 million barrels) of condensate were produced from the field, jointly from the Shah Deniz Alpha and Shah Deniz Bravo platforms.
The current production capacity of the existing Shah Deniz facilities is approximately 79 million standard cubic meters per day (around 28.8 billion standard cubic meters per year).
It was noted that in the third quarter of 2026, subsea activities at the east-north flank wells continued as part of the Shah Deniz 2 project, and the fourth well on this flank was brought into operation in September.
Although work under the Shah Deniz 2 project continued to account for the main workload of the Khankendi vessel, during the first nine months of the year, the vessel was also involved in subsea intervention operations at several wells in the Deepwater Gunashli area of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block to help identify opportunities for reservoir pressure management and production enhancement at an early stage.
During this period, the Tofiq Ismayilov diving vessel supported general maintenance, inspection and intervention activities at all currently operating Shah Deniz 2 and ACG subsea production facilities.
This is part of an integrated schedule aimed at optimizing activities and accelerating well start-up timelines to ensure the efficient use of the vessel and drilling rigs.
According to the report, drilling of the SDA12 well on the Shah Deniz Alpha platform was completed in the third quarter of 2026.
The Istiglal and Heydar Aliyev drilling rigs continued well operations under the Shah Deniz 2 project. During the quarter, the Istiglal drilling rig completed work on the SDH04 well on the east-north flank and is currently carrying out completion activities on the SDH05 well on the same flank.
The Heydar Aliyev drilling rig completed preventive maintenance work on the rig and began drilling the SDD06 well on the west flank.
A total of 24 wells have been drilled under the Shah Deniz 2 project. These include five wells on the northern flank of the field, five on the western flank, four on the east-south flank, five on the west-south flank and five on the east-north flank.
