Work on the installation of photovoltaic modules has been 50% completed as part of the construction project of the Shafag solar power plant (SPP) located in Azerbaijan's Jabrayil district, APA-Economics reports, citing bp's report on the results of its operations in Azerbaijan for the first nine months of 2026.

"In the third quarter of 2026, construction work on the Shafag solar project progressed at the project site located in Jabrayil district. The procurement and delivery of major equipment, including photovoltaic modules and structural components, were successfully completed, and significant progress was achieved in the installation of piles and tracker systems. Electrical installation activities also commenced and continued according to plan during the quarter. By the end of the third quarter, module installation work was 50% complete," the report stated.

The project has also continued to demonstrate strong occupational safety performance, with a total of 1 million working hours completed without any recordable injuries.

The use of local resources in the project's construction work continues to increase. Currently, 444 local workers are involved in the project, including 150 newly resettled residents of the territories liberated from occupation. More than 700 jobs are expected to be created during the peak construction period, and the existing accommodation blocks at the site are currently being expanded to accommodate the growing workforce.

Construction work on the project is planned to continue until mid-2027.
