Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair kicks off

Baku. Javid Zeynalov – APA-Economics. The 13th Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair (AITF 2014) has today kicked off at Baku Expo Center, APA-Economics reports. Delivering a keynote speech at the event, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulbas Garayev said it is important that Azerbaijan hosts the fair and it is an obvious manifestation of the development of Azerbaijan’s tourism: “We are very glad that Azerbaijan is hosting this event. Azerbaijan’s tourism is developing rapidly and we have great achievements in this field. I thank the participant companies for their coming to Baku. I’m confident that this cooperation will continue in the future and a productive cooperation will be established.”

Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai also attended the opening ceremony of the fair. The Secretary-General said that he had today met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and they exchanged views on the development of tourism and expansion of mutual cooperation.

The foreign participants will present exclusive tourism proposals especially developed for Azerbaijan’s market during the fair.

Along with the national stands, 24 national and regional groups from Argentina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, Georgia, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Italy, China, Malaysia, Morocco, Slovenia, Russia (Stavropol Krai, Sochi), Thailand, Turkey, France, Montenegro and the Czech Republic are attending the event.

The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
