Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. A solar eclipse will be observed on Novruz holiday 2015 in Azerbaijan.
Deputy Director of Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory named after Nasraddin Tusi of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Khidir Mikayilov told APA that the first total solar eclipse in 2015 is expected to be seen on March 20. He said the eclipse will be partially visible in Azerbaijan.
Mikayilov mentioned that the solar eclipse will be observed from 11:40 to 15:48 on March 20.
“The phenomenon will last for 4 hours and 8 minutes. The eclipse will reach maximum at 13:44. It will be observed in Azerbaijan for an hour and half. Thus the eclipse in our country will start at 13:46, reach its peak at 14:30 and end at 15:18. To observe the solar eclipse, people are recommended to use sunglasses,” he said.
Mikayilov added that the solar eclipse will be partially observed in North Africa, North Asia and European countries. The total solar eclipse will be observed in Iceland, the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Basin.
