Former Turkish Minister of Family and Social Policies Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya has been arrested by a court order, APA reports, citing TRT Haber.
Kaya was detained as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into financial market transactions.
Following her questioning, she was referred to a court with a request for pre-trial detention on suspicion of violating the Capital Markets Law and membership in an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes.
The court granted the prosecution's request and ordered her arrest pending trial.
As part of the same investigation, judicial supervision measures were imposed on Kaya's husband, Ilyas Kaya, and former Chairman of Türkiye's Capital Markets Board (SPK), Ibrahim Ömer Gönül.
Both were banned from leaving the country and required to report regularly to the authorities by signing in.
