Baku – APA. “Azerbaijan’s care for science and education will surely produce results. In our country, the level of education is very high, there’s no uneducated person. This is our great advantage”, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his meeting with the staff of school No. 124 in Shaghan settlement of Baku’s Khazar District and the local community’s representatives, APA reports.
The head of state said the prosperous future of the country relies on the intellectual potential of society.
“If we take into account the experience of developing countries, we see the countries which put much emphasis on science, education, and technical progress, are developing. Our advantage is that we have rich natural resources, already diversified economy and well-designed state policy”, he said.
President Aliyev also touched on education reforms.
“Our main desire is to increase the quality of education. Of course, education reforms play a major role in this area. Such reforms are currently being carried out. I am sure that we will get good results in the near future”, the head of state said.
President Aliyev also added: “I would like our children to grow up in national spirit and remain loyal to the homeland and the people. Of course, in order to achieve this, they should be properly raised in their families and at schools”.
The head of state said that the construction of 2 900 schools over the last ten years is an historic event:
“Most of these schools were built in 1930s, 1940s, 1950s and 1970s. Most of them were destroyed and unsuitable. The state program on socio-economic development of regions, as well as the state program on development of Baku and its settlements envisage the construction and reconstruction of all school. Under the program, construction of the schools in Baku should be completed by 2016. However, I think no school will be left unrepaired by next year”, President Aliyev said.
