Azerbaijan's Ministry of Justice continues effective cooperation with the relevant authorities of foreign countries to detain and bring to Azerbaijan individuals who are internationally wanted and accused of committing crimes, APA reports, citing the Ministry's press service.
It was reported that another individual placed on the international wanted list by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Azerbaijan, whose whereabouts were established in the Federal Republic of Germany, was extradited to Azerbaijan by the Ministry on November 6.
Thus, Azerbaijani citizen Elmir Elkhan oglu Nuriyev, who is accused of committing fraud in 2021 by abusing trust and using deception for personal gain, misleading victims on various occasions by providing false information that he would arrange renovations of their apartments, thereby causing significant financial damage (Articles 178.2.2 and 178.4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan), was located and arrested in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Following a request from the Prosecutor General's Office, relevant guarantees provided by the Ministry, and negotiations, an agreement was reached on the individual's extradition to Azerbaijan. This, in turn, once again confirms Azerbaijan's reputation in the international community and the Federal Republic of Germany's status as a reliable partner for the country.
Elmir Elkhan oglu Nuriyev was brought to Azerbaijan from the Federal Republic of Germany by responsible employees of the Ministry of Justice's Main Department of International Cooperation and the Ministry's Penitentiary Service. He was placed in the relevant pre-trial detention facility on the basis of a court arrest order.
The Ministry continues to take the necessary measures in this area.
