US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has stated that members of Congress will not succeed in securing his resignation, APA reports.
He described lawmakers who initiated impeachment proceedings alongside Democrats as political opponents, comparing the move to the two unsuccessful attempts against President Donald Trump.
Note that Republican Congressman Thomas Massie has announced his readiness to introduce a resolution to impeach Hegseth.
Several Democrats and some Republicans have expressed dissatisfaction with his actions regarding the US-Iran conflict.
Although Trump previously stated that he had no intention of removing Hegseth from office, CBS News reported that the president had discussed the defense secretary's possible resignation with his aides.
