A national scientific-practical conference dedicated to Victory Day, titled "Azerbaijan's Victory: Military Strategy, Diplomacy and National Unity," was held at the Cultural Center of the State Security Service (SSS), organized by the Heydar Aliyev Academy of the SSS, the SSS Press Service told APA.
The event was attended by senior officials of the SSS, members of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, veterans of security agencies, and academic staff from specialized and civilian higher education institutions.
Following the opening of the event, the cherished memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic sons of the Motherland who sacrificed their lives for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence, and the National Anthem was played.
Delivering the opening speech at the conference, the head of the Academy, Major General Elshad Nasirov, described the Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War as one of the most important events in the history of Azerbaijan's statehood. He emphasized that the Victory was the result of army building, military strategy, diplomatic activities and national unity, based on the foundations laid by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
The speech also noted that the historic Victory, as an embodiment of the state's strength, the people's indomitable will and confidence in the future, would remain an eternal source of pride for future generations.
Subsequently, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Academician Rafael Huseynov, highlighted that the Victory was based not only on the decisive leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the successor to Heydar Aliyev's political legacy, but also on the importance of his interviews with foreign media during the Patriotic War in communicating Azerbaijan's position, which he described as just, to the international community.
MP and Doctor of Political Sciences Rizvan Nabiyev stated that the policies implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev had further strengthened the country's economic, political and military potential, while the achievements created broad opportunities for lasting peace and stability in the region.
Rector of the Military Institute of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General Elchin Mammadov, noted that National Leader Heydar Aliyev had identified the training of national military personnel as a priority, while President Ilham Aliyev had consistently continued this policy, further developing the military education system and the army's capabilities.
