US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order designating the Oval Office as a historic landmark, APA reports.
According to the document, future administrations will only be able to make major changes to the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room in the White House with congressional approval.
Trump stated that once the documents granting these rooms historic landmark status take legal effect, it will no longer be possible to significantly alter their appearance.
According to the US leader, the relevant measures must still be approved by Congress.
Note that during Trump's presidency, the interior of the Oval Office has undergone significant renovations, including the addition of gold decorative elements.
