A suspect has been detained in connection with the murder of two Azerbaijani brothers in the village of Lambalo in Georgia's Sagarejo district on November 5, APA's local bureau reports, citing Georgia's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The investigation established that on November 5, the suspect fired several shots from a firearm following a previous dispute, wounding two people before fleeing the scene. Both victims died from their injuries. Police seized the weapon used in the crime as material evidence.
An investigation is underway into the intentional murder of two people under aggravating circumstances. The detained suspect faces up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Elman Usubov, the brother of the victims who survived the armed incident, told local media that he managed to escape by hiding behind a car, while his brothers were deliberately shot dead.
He was unable to give a clear answer when asked about the cause of the incident.
