The amendment is due to the cancellation of the second paragraph of Article 189 of the Code of Administrative Offences, which entered into force on 4 months ago.
According to the second paragraph of Article 189, except for reasons specified by the relevant executive authority, parents will face AZN 100 fine due to theirs children’s 7-day absence from classes in a month.
MP Elmira Akhundova considered wrong the annulment of the law adopted four months ago. Speaker Ogtay Asadov recalled that a number of draft laws have been annulled in the past years, asking Akhundova why she re reacted to this issue.
The draft law was put up to a vote and adopted. Parents will no longer be fined for their children’s truancy.
