Azerbaijan's subsistence minimum to reach 359 manats by 2030

The subsistence minimum in Azerbaijan will reach 359 manats by 2030, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakbarov said during discussions on the social budget package at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Labor and Social Policy, APA reports.

Sahib Alakbarov said that minimum social standards for 2027–2030 are projected in accordance with approved regulations, based on the subsistence minimum, minimum wage, needs criterion, as well as the minimum amounts of social benefits and allowances.

"When forecasting the subsistence minimum for the working-age population, pensioners, and children, the actual figures provided by the State Statistical Committee are calculated by adjusting them in line with the expected inflation rate for the current year and projected inflation rates for subsequent years. The projected subsistence minimum in the country for 2027–2030 will amount to 314, 329, 344, and 359 manats, respectively. For 2026, the nationwide subsistence minimum was set at 310 manats, 317 manats for the working-age population, 245 manats for pensioners, and 260 manats for children. The draft law for 2027 sets the subsistence minimum at 314 manats nationwide, 334 manats for the working-age population, 258 manats for pensioners, and 274 manats for children. Inflation for 2027–2030 is projected at 5.3%, 4.8%, 4.6%, and 4.3%, respectively. Our main tasks in the coming period include the full implementation of adopted support measures and regular assessment of their economic impact, the establishment of long-term financing mechanisms for industrial and production projects, the expansion of the volume and geographical reach of non-oil exports, the accelerated implementation of strategic investment projects, the promotion of economic activity along transport corridors, and ensuring the implementation of the socio-economic development strategy for 2027–2030 and the second State Program on the 'Great Return'," he said.
