Azerbaijan registered 10,567 fire accidents over first eleven months of 2014

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloghlu – APA. This year the Ministry of Emergency Situations has demonstrated efficiency in the field of fire prevention.

Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov said this at the event held on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) and professional holiday of the ministry’s employees, APA reports.

K. Heydarov said over the first eleven months of this year, 10,567 fire accidents were registered in the republic, 3,076 - in the capital.

Last year prompt visits were daily made on 32 fire accidents, one man was rescued for every seven days. In general, 123 state-run facilities, 317 private facilities, 312 multi-apartment buildings, 600 private houses, 452 auxiliary buildings and 305 various equipments were protected from fire.

According to the minister, 738 people were evacuated to a safe area, 10,000 hectares of forest and about 502 hectares of grain areas were protected from fire.

K. Heydarov said 25,000 workers and employees have been educated in the field of fire safety, adding that more than 66,000 facilities were inspected for fire safety.

Irregularities were revealed in over 12,000 houses, letters were sent to the gas exploitation departments to take urgent measures.
