A 13-year-old Azerbaijani girl has given birth to twins in Georgia’s Marneuli district, according to APA’s local bureau, public activist Samira Bayramova reported the case.
She said one of the babies died at the maternity hospital, while the other remains in serious condition.
Bayramova told APA’s local bureau that the 13-year-old girl is an Azerbaijani citizen, while the person she was married to is a Georgian citizen.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the case.
The investigation is being conducted under the provision of Georgia’s Criminal Code concerning sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16.
