# 25 November 2009 12:45 (UTC +04:00)
The congratulation sent by the Caucasian Muslims Office to APA says:
“I congratulate all Azerbaijani believers on the holiest day of the Islamic world – Gurban holiday, wish welfare, peace and happiness to our people.

Gurban holiday, which is marked as Eid al-Adha by the world Muslims, is a tradition having ancient history and divine content. The highest award of Allah in exchange for the devotion of the Prophet Ibrahim has a great moral and philosophical value. Allah regarded faithfulness of Hazrat Ismayil to his father’s promise, disinterested love for his parent, hatred for shaitan as virtue and since then human sacrifice was completely eliminated. Everyone, who is devoted to his promise to Allah, is awarded in the end. Therefore, I advise you to be patient, self-restrained, resolute, be devoted to the promise to Allah, respect parents, keep promise and prefer common interests to personal interests.

Sharing his views on essence of Gurban holiday, Pashazadeh noted that it is one of the greatest holidays of Islam. Sacrificial food is given to the poor and hungry people so they can all join in the feast which is held on Eid-al-Adha. The regular charitable practices of the Muslim community are demonstrated during the holiday by the concerted effort to see that no impoverished person is left without sacrificial food during these days. He noted that the Hajj pilgrims had completed their visit to Mina Mountain, Mecca and they would pray for the happiness of our state, people and for liberation of Karabakh together with us. “May souls of all, who laid down their lives for independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, rest in peace. Once again I congratulate all Azerbaijani people on this holy Gurban holiday. Happy Holiday!”
