Hidayat Orujov: The activity of the unregistered religious communities will be stopped from January 1, 2010

From now on the law does not allow such activity. The activity of the unregistered religious communities will be stopped from January 1, 2010,â€ chairman of the State Committee on Work with Religious Structures Hidayat Orujov said, APA reports. He said there are enough opportunities for the registration.
â€œWe have received over 200 appeals. We are studying them,â€ he said.

According to Hidayat Orujov, there still are harmful religious tendencies, though few, in Azerbaijan.
â€œMuch has been done in the positive direction. Most of the harmful tendencies have been eliminated. Harmful tendencies function under the pretext of religion,â€ he said.

Hidayat Orujov also spoke about the construction of mosques.
â€œIt should determined whether they serve religion, or politics. No one protests against the legal construction of mosques,â€ he said.
