About 20 priests came to the village and demanded to stop restoration of the mosque founded in 1905. Bolnisi executive power and Kvemo-Kartli governor were informed about the incident.

Deputy governor of Kvemo-Kartli Huseyn Yusifov and deputy head of Bolnisi executive power Ramin Asadov visited Fakhrali. The priests said to the people and officials “you have no right to build a mosque here”. The people protested against them.

Huseyn Yusifov told APA that governor of Kvemo-Kartli David Kirkitadze informed Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II.
“Patriarch said measures will be taken about those who impede the restoration of the mosque,” he said.

Yusifov noted that those priests had other interests.
“The position of the priests and the government does not coincide. There is a document permitting restoration of the mosque. Despite all obstacles, we will do our best to finish restoration of the historical mosque,” he said.
