He said hearing presided by Miminat Hajibayova was held on August 21. Lawyer of the community Aslan Ismayilov petitioned for ensuring the participation of the representative of Baku Mayor’s Office. Therefore, the next hearing will be held on August 28.
Razizadeh said the land plot was bought for the mosque in 1996 and the paperwork continued till 1998. The construction of the mosque began in 1998 with financial support of Surakhany district executive power and technical support of Baku Mayor’s Office. In 2002, new Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov passed a decision to knock down the mosque. After the members of the community appealed to the President, Baku Mayor’s Office gave an oral permission to continue the construction.
“But the decision on demolishing the mosque was not cancelled. The construction was about to end. Five months ago Surakhany executive power stopped the construction and appealed to court for the execution of the decision of Baku Mayor’s Office on demolishing the mosque,” he said.
Razizadeh said they appealed to the President again.
