Azerbaijan has historically always been a multicultural country, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, APA reports.
"Issues related to intercultural and interreligious relations are among the main priorities of our agenda. Azerbaijan has historically always been a multicultural country. We are located between Europe and Asia. For centuries, Azerbaijan has served as a cultural bridge between Asia and Europe. The traditions of multiculturalism, religious and ethnic tolerance are values that our people have preserved and highly cherished for centuries. One of the main reasons for Azerbaijan's successful and stable development is the solidarity and harmony in our society. Representatives of all ethnic groups and religions not only enjoy equal rights in accordance with our Constitution but also live together as one family," the head of state noted.
