We can create a stronger, more coordinated D-8 media cooperation, said Adil Shahzeb, head of Pakistan Television, during his speech at a panel session on “Strategic Communication and Crisis Management” held as part of the D-8 Media Forum, APA reports.
According to him, Pakistan’s experience during the recent conflict with India has shown that a country must defend itself not only on the battlefield but also in the global information space: “For the future, we must strengthen collective media resilience in the D-8 region. Because we live in a period where fake news spreads ten times faster than truths, deepfake technologies are widely used in political confrontations, and information is turned into a weapon to destabilize regions. Therefore, closer coordination among our colleagues, the D-8 Secretariat, and with the organization of Azerbaijan is of vital importance.”
Adil Shahzeb proposed the creation of a virtual group that will bring together the national news agencies of D-8 countries, accredited media institutions, and leading media organizations: “We all must work together to expose fake news spreading in the context of hybrid warfare, disinformation, and global narrative competition.”
