"The Shusha Global Media Forum is a very successful initiative because it brings together officials and representatives of civil society from different countries," President of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) of the Kingdom of Morocco Latifa Akharbach said, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.
She noted that representatives from 53 countries had gathered at the forum to discuss a very important issue.
"Here, we are discussing how to engage the media and journalism in building an ecosystem and public environment that promotes a culture of peace and contributes to conflict prevention. From what I have seen here, as well as from President Ilham Aliyev's speech, I conclude that dialogue is extremely important," she said.
Latifa Akharbach emphasized that the media is one of the main instruments shaping people's perception of the world.
"The media is like a window through which people see the world. However, as a result of the digital transformation taking place in the fields of media and communication, this window is increasingly turning into an echo chamber, and we must be very careful about this. The Shusha Global Media Forum makes an important contribution to the formation of shared values and common principles. This forum reminds the international community that the media should not become a tool for fueling conflicts. One of the greatest threats facing all countries is the use of the media to promote polarization and spread hate speech," she added.
