As part of the forum titled “Media of the Future: In the Footsteps of Akinchi”, a one-on-one session on “Media Professionalism and Next-Generation Journalism” was held with Vusala Mahirgizi, Director General of APA Media Group, APA reports.
During the meeting, participating youth asked Vusala Mahirgizi questions about her media experience, new media, modern media transformations, digitalization, and more.
“Journalism is not just a profession, it’s a way of life. If you're a journalist, you must know everything in the news sphere before anyone else,” said Mahirgizi. She emphasized that a journalist must be able to look at events and topics as news stories, but that should not mean losing empathy. “Empathy is fundamental to our profession. What we write affects people’s lives and destinies. In my opinion, a journalist must never lose empathy — not just toward people they know or are emotionally connected to, but toward everyone.”
She also responded to a question about the APA Journalism School, stating that the school will expand its activities in the upcoming season.
“We’re considering launching courses on social media marketing, digital content creation, and methods of utilizing artificial intelligence,” she added.
Vusala Mahirgizi highlighted the importance of reinforcing ethical principles, integrating technological innovations, and building effective dialogue with society in today’s rapidly changing information ecosystem. She stressed the strategic role of journalism in social development.
The forum “Media of the Future: In the Footsteps of Akinchi” was jointly organized by Azerconnect Group and the Media Development Agency.
