"We celebrate another anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press today. The development path of our press, founded on July 22, 1875, by the great enlightener Hasan bey Zardabi, is a vivid example of true patriotism, loyalty to the ideas of statehood, and tireless struggle for national progress," Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said in a post on X, APA reports.
"Beginning in the mid-1990s, the media policy implemented under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev created a solid foundation for ensuring freedom of speech and information, pluralism of opinion, and the formation and development of a strong and professional media in our country. The successful continuation of the policy initiated by the Great Leader, along with consistently implemented reforms in this field, ensured the development of our media in line with modern challenges and expanded its influence in the global information space.
During the 44-day Patriotic War, our media demonstrated genuine patriotism and solidarity, playing an important role in conveying our just voice to the international community and exposing information provocations directed against our country. Evaluating the activities of the Azerbaijani media, President Ilham Aliyev stated: 'Today, our media enjoys great prestige not only within the country but also internationally, and I say this with complete sincerity... Today, the Azerbaijani media is capable of protecting state interests.
It has also achieved great success in exposing unfounded accusations against Azerbaijan through arguments, serious analysis, and facts. Our media not only defends state interests but also goes on the offensive when necessary.'
At a time when complex processes continue in the world and our region, and wars and conflicts have not subsided, Azerbaijan stands out for its security and development dynamics, while further expanding its independent and principled policy and equal partnership relations with centers of power. It is gratifying that our media has been able to adapt its activities to current realities, takes into account modern trends in the global information space, and distinguishes itself through its active role in implementing advanced technologies, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and addressing other key issues shaping future development.
We are confident that our media will further strengthen the positions it has gained in the global information space and will continue to remain committed to its principles, sparing no effort to reinforce patriotism, national solidarity, and the protection of our national interests.
I sincerely congratulate the Azerbaijani media and our dear journalists on their professional holiday and wish you good health and success in your valuable work," the Presidential Assistant noted.
