US President Donald Trump could declare Washington's victory in the war with Iran if Tehran agrees to fully open the Strait of Hormuz. The American leader is prepared to end the conflict with the Islamic Republic even without a nuclear agreement, APA reports citing The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to her information, the US president privately "expressed to senior aides the idea that he wants to leave [the conflict] without a nuclear deal." He also told his subordinates in recent weeks that Tehran, after the destruction of its nuclear facilities in 2025, would not be able to resume its nuclear program until the end of his presidential term, and that if the Islamic Republic were to make such an attempt, US intelligence would be able to detect it in time.
If the US succeeds in resuming shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and keeping Iran's nuclear program under control, Trump could extend the ceasefire indefinitely and lift the blockade of Iranian ports.
