A new record for the number of days with temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius has been set in the UK, APA reports citing Sky News.
In 2026, the United Kingdom has already recorded 35 such days, with three weeks left in summer. The previous record was set in 1995. A fifth heatwave is expected to hit the country next week, with temperatures approaching 35 degrees Celsius.
On August 3, the Met Office reported that July 2026 was the driest second month of summer on record in England and Wales. England received 6.5 mm of rainfall, which is only 10% of the July average, while Wales received 9.3 mm (9% of the average).
