MEDIA: Fake video circulated under Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant’s name

A fake video featuring the Azerbaijani Presidential Assistant and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmat Hajiyev, created using deepfake technology, has been circulated through several accounts operating on social media platforms, APA reports, citing a statement by the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that this example of disinformation, prepared with the help of artificial intelligence and aimed at confusing public opinion, serves to damage relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, undermine the strategic alliance between the two brotherly countries, and erode mutual trust: “We call on the public to trust only information provided by official sources, and urge journalists and public activists to always demonstrate a principled stance against such cases and remain vigilant in an environment where fake and false information-based campaigns and the tendency of content creation using deepfake technologies are on the rise.

At the same time, we call on the owners of social media platforms and relevant bodies to take measures to promptly remove harmful and fake content, and to implement effective mechanisms to prevent such cases.”
