The Media Development Agency has issued a statement regarding disinformation targeting the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, MEDIA told APA.
It was stated that instances have been observed in a number of foreign online news outlets and social media segments where disinformation of a questionable origin and not reflecting reality is being disseminated with the aim of undermining the strategic allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye:
“Following preliminary investigations, it has been determined that this disinformation campaign originated from the Tsargrad.tv resource in the Russian-language segment of the internet.
We strongly condemn and emphasize the unacceptability of such acts of disinformation, which are directed against our country, seek to mislead public opinion through false and manipulative content, and aim to target the existing brotherly and allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. We call on Azerbaijani and Turkish journalists, as well as media outlets, to take a principled stance against such disinformation attempts, refrain from disseminating unverified information, and act responsibly in protecting the information environment.
At the same time, we invite the public in both countries not to believe false information and to rely only on statements issued by official bodies.
The Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue effective cooperation with the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye in order to prevent such cases and to form a unified position.”
