Kazakh official: Digital platforms must be accountable for the content they distribute

"It is precisely on platforms such as the Shusha Global Media Forum that we must strengthen cooperation against disinformation and find joint solutions. It is impossible to combat disinformation alone," Kanat Iskakov, First Vice Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, said at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, APA's correspondent dispatched to Shusha reports.

Iskakov said fake news has always existed, but modern technologies have enabled it to spread much more rapidly, making joint efforts to combat disinformation increasingly important.

"Digital platforms play a key role in the distribution of content. Therefore, these platforms should bear responsibility for the content they disseminate and take more active measures to prevent the spread of disinformation and manipulative information. At the same time, users should be provided with reliable and verified information," he stressed.
