"The BBC’s report alleging the use of chemical weapons against protesters in Georgia is absurd," Ioane Shaishmelashvili, host of the “Eucrocracy–Former Europe” program from Georgia, said during his speech at the Azerbaijan–Georgia Media Forum on “The Role of Media in Building Public Trust and Information Security,” APA reports.

“There are several major media outlets in the world with high standards whose reports once needed no verification and whose credibility was never questioned. One of them was the BBC. But the news it published about Georgia has become a subject of ridicule. Not long ago, they also spread false information about U.S. President Donald Trump. Later, they themselves admitted that the video of Trump broadcast by the BBC had been edited and his statements distorted. There was also certain disinformation spread about Azerbaijan. The unfortunate reality today is that media organizations that once held authority are now undermining their own credibility,” the Georgian journalist said.
