“The first D-8 media forum is currently being held in Baku. The goal of the forum is to strengthen cooperation between media entities of D-8 member states, support the development of media security at the international and regional levels, combat disinformation, and create platforms for mutual cooperation in the digital environment,” said Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, in his statement to journalists, APA reports.
He said that a strategic plan is being discussed against the backdrop of the establishment of the School of Media Excellence within the framework of D-8: “The establishment of the Media Excellence Center was initiated at the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and based on the recommendation of the organization’s Secretary General during his visit to our country. Currently, the strategic plan of the Media Excellence Center has been presented to the forum participants. Until the end of the day, experts will continue their work on the center’s future activities.”
According to Ahmad Ismayilov, the discussions show that the member states highly appreciate the holding of such a media forum and are making relevant statements supporting its organization on an annual basis: "The main goal of establishing the Center for Media Excellence is to develop cooperation in the media field among the D-8 countries, strengthen the fight against disinformation and fake news, improve the professional training of media personnel, and implement joint projects."
