A statement prepared using "deepfake" technology and not reflecting reality has been circulated on several accounts on the Facebook social network platform on behalf of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Media Development Agency (MEDIA) told APA.

It was stated that this example of disinformation, created with the help of artificial intelligence and aimed at misleading public opinion, is intended to obtain citizens’ personal information and cause them financial harm.

It was noted that recently, similar cases of cyber fraud with such content have frequently occurred on the “Facebook” platform.

“In this regard, we call on the owner of the Facebook platform, the company Meta, to take prompt measures to remove harmful content.

We urge the public to believe only information provided by official sources, and we call on journalists and civil activists to always demonstrate principled action against such incidents and to remain vigilant in an environment where campaigns based on fake and false information and content created with deepfake technologies are becoming widespread,” MEDIA said in a statement.
