The 12th meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) will be held in Albania in the fall, this was announced during the 11th Meeting of the Forum of Regulatory Authorities on Television and Radio Broadcasting of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), held in Baku, APA reports.
The Chairman of the Audiovisual Council, Ismet Sattarov, opening the meeting with a welcoming speech, greeted the guests attending the forum and spoke about the upcoming issues on the agenda.
Merve Safa Kavakçı, First Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, stated that establishing closer cooperation with the European Union and other international organizations is one of the main priorities: "Regulation of audiovisual media, protection of children in media services, cooperation in these and other areas and collaboration with the European Union and other international organizations for implementation of projects are our main goals."
She noted that BRAF is an important regional platform established to expand dialogue and cooperation among the broadcasting regulatory bodies of the countries in the region and to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences.
Deniz Güçer, Secretary General of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum, in her speech, drew attention to the harmful content that children are exposed to in media. The Secretary General also emphasized another issue — how children are portrayed and presented on social media.
"Finding a solution to how children are protected in broadcasting services is our common concern," she said.
Note that around 30 heads and authorized representatives of audiovisual media regulatory bodies from Serbia, Romania, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Moldova, Georgia, and Azerbaijan, as well as officials from the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Media Development Agency, and media representatives attended the meeting.
The main topic of the meeting was “Protection of Children in Media Services.”
Panel sessions were organized on the topics “Legal regulation in the field of child protection and its effective implementation” and “The role of media literacy and parental control in child protection.”
