Azerbaijan, Serbia and Türkiye hold next phase of audiovisual media exchange program in Belgrade

The next phase of the exchange program implemented within the framework of trilateral cooperation between the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) of the Republic of Serbia, and the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) of the Republic of Türkiye was held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, from June 15 to 19, the Audiovisual Council told APA.

It was noted that the main goal of the organized experience exchange program was to exchange experiences and views on the development of trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Serbia in the field of audiovisual media, licensing of broadcasting activities, discussion of new challenges arising in the field of audiovisual media against the background of the development of global video sharing platforms, including social media, and promotion of digital media services.

During the five-day meeting the Audiovisual Council was represented by Advisor to the Chairman Hashim Alimammadzade and Torakhanim Zeynalli, Leading Adviser of the Legal and International Cooperation Department of the Council's Office.

Within the framework of the exchange program, information and experience were shared regarding the activities of regulatory authorities in Azerbaijan, Serbia and Türkiye, media legislation, the current state of audiovisual media, licensing, monitoring, and modern challenges in carrying out supervisory functions. Visits were organized to the Public Media Service of Vojvodina, the regional public broadcaster of Serbia, the Avala Tower used for television and radio broadcasting, and the Broadcasting Technologies and Communications LLC, an infrastructure operator, extensive information about the current state of the broadcasting sector in Serbia was obtained.

The sessions and discussions held within the framework of the program were significant in terms of familiarizing participants with modern international approaches to media regulation, studying best practices, and monitoring new mechanisms and global challenges emerging in the digital media environment. They also played an important role in exchanging views and benefiting from mutual experience on topics such as media literacy, combating hate speech in audiovisual media, and protecting children's rights.

It was noted that an agreement had been reached to hold the next, fourth phase of the exchange program in Türkiye in 2027, organized by RTÜK.
