Newly-established sport channel to be on air from January 1

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva–APA. A newly-established sport channel in Azerbaijan will be on air from January 1, 2009, Press Secretary of Azerbaijan National Television Ltd Khatira Gasimli told APA. She said Az.TV Sport would provide daily three-hour test airing from January 1 to 22. In early period of airing, the sport channel will be available for the audience of Baku and some regions of the country and a month later it will be aired throughout the country. Our compatriots abroad can watch Az.TV Sport via encoded satellite signal.
The viewers will get opportunity to watch free the international football, volleyball, wrestling, judo, athletic and other tournaments on this channel.
The decision to open AZ.TV Sport channel was passed on July 18, 2008 by the National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council. Three channels – AZ.TV, Lider TV and Rembranding Company attended tender announced by NTRBC for the sport channel and Az.TV became a winner of the tender.
