Turkic-speaking countries media forum in Ankara continues

Media representatives from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Republic of Northern Cyprus are attending the event.

The participants had discussions on the subject of â€œMedia in Turkic worldâ€. Deputy Director General of Turkmen Television Bayramkilic Yazagilicov spoke about the state of media in his country. Head of Turkish Media Association Salih Memecan shared his views on the ways of mediaâ€™s cooperation with people and NGOâ€™s. Chairman of the Northern Cyprusâ€™s Foreign Press Union Fevzi Tanpinar spoke about the relations between Northern Cyprus and Turkic countries and emphasized the increase of these relations.

Journalist of Turkish â€œStarâ€ newspaper Ergun Babahan spoke about the media situation and problems in Turkey. He said that the print media in Turkey is in crisis. According to him, there is a facilitation process in Turkish mediaâ€™s language.

Chairman of the Azerbaijani Press Council Aflatun Amashov spoke about the state and problems of media in Azerbaijan. Amashov said that media had passed the censorship stage and informed about the amendments made to legislation in respect to media.

General Director of Kazakhstanâ€™s Channel 31 Nurjan Muhamedjanova spoke about media environment in her country.
