Ankara hosts “Turkish-Speaking Countries Media Forum” - <font color=red>PHOTOSESSION</font>

Delegations comprising media representatives from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Republic of Northern Cyprus attend the event.

Head of Turkey’s Directorate General of Press and Information Murat Karakaya said that role of media in globalizing world would be topic at the forum. Karakaya noted that there was need for Turkish language in increase and intensification of press relations in countries within such period when media’s role had increased in the world.

Head of Foreign Ministry’s Center for Strategic Research Bulent Aras also said that there was need for intensification of media relations belonging to Turkic speaking countries.

Delivering speech at the event Turkish FM Ahmad Davudoglu spoke about the importance of the meeting. He said that all medias of Turkic speaking countries should accept problem of one country as own distress: “There is need for development of free media in Turkic speaking countries. If we want a modern Turkish world, then we must achieve free media development”.

Turkish FM said that Turkish countries should increase number of mass media famous in the world for having serious impact on information and political view of the world: “I think that today, number of Turkish media organizations is few among the first 100 mass media existing in the world. And it disturbs us”.
Davudoglu noted that there was need for establishment of complete organization of Turkic speaking countries and for constant holding of this forum.

Thereupon, Deputy Turkish Prime Minister Bulent Arinc made a speech. He greeted forum participants and spoke about works done in the direction of development of media in Turkey. Arinc said that at present, there was unity of official media of Turkish countries. He noted that TRT Turk and TRT-Avaz was being broadcasted in the whole Turkish world. At the same time Arinc said that those unities should cover private media as well.

Then, Turkish Prime Minister Rajap Tayyip Erdogan’s letter of congratulation for forum was read at the meeting.
