Baku hosts conference on “Development of cable television in Azerbaijan: achievements and prospects”- <font color=red>  PHOTOSESSION </font>

President of Azerbaijan Cable Operators Association Samir Gurbanov spoke about the necessity of the establishment of the association and about the major problems it will solve.

Chairman of the National Broadcasting Council Nushiravan Maharramli said there are 14 cable televisions in Azerbaijan. Maharramli said the Azerbaijan Cable Operators Association was established out of necessity. He underlined that the further activity of the National Broadcasting Council will be more effective.

According to the chairman of the council, cable televisions have been receiving license since 2005. Cable operators are functioning in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja and Mingachevir.
“Cable TV has increased people’s opportunity of choice. We want to extend the cable network, that’s why the broadcasting of foreign channels was stopped. It was a right decision,” he said.

Representative of TURKSOY Lala Shilgin Dundar said according to the decision made at the meeting of TURKSOY culture ministers on November 24, Yildiz.tv project uniting the TV channels of the Turkic-speaking countries on the internet will be realized. TURKSOY will manage this project.

Representative of Yildiz.tv Huseyn Ismayilbeyli said over this portal people from any part of the world will be able to watch selected TV channels of TURKSOY countries. 22 TV channels are being broadcasted on this website. 10-day archive of the channels is available on the website.

A protocol of intent was signed for establishing Eurasia Cable Television Association. Heads of the councils representing Azerbaijan, Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Turkey signed the document.
