A special Working Group on Automobile Transportation, consisting of representatives of customs, border, and transport agencies of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia, was established at a meeting in Baku to resolve the problems faced by carriers, said Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, APA's correspondent dispatched to Iran reports.

Shahin Mustafayev said that the Azerbaijani side has completed the construction of a new automobile bridge on Astarachay, and the operation of a temporary border crossing point has also been ensured: "These works are being delayed a little by Iran. The Iranian side has assured that these works will be completed by the Nowruz holiday next year. The current border crossing point and automobile bridge, which currently allow 100-150 trucks to pass through daily, will allow up to 1,000 vehicles to pass through. There are now big traffic jams. If the construction of this bridge is completed, these traffic jams will disappear."

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that an agreement was reached to establish a trilateral Working Group to solve some of the problems faced by highways and transporters: "This Working Group will work to eliminate traffic jams, the causes of traffic jams, and artificial obstacles, if any."
