Zangilan is being built on the "15-minute city model", said Dunja Kovari-Binggeli, founding partner of "SA Partners", speaking at the "III Azerbaijan National Urban Planning Forum" held in Khankendi, APA-Economics reports.
She noted that the main goal of urban planning in the liberated areas is to create climate-resilient cities that maintain harmony between nature and people.
"The master plan of Zangilan city was prepared for a safe, livable, and sustainable life. We planned the city based on the '15-minute city model, '" she noted.
The expert emphasized that the planning of Zangilan is based on the concept of "green and blue network", and parks, natural air corridors and green zones will be created in the city.
She also said that new architectural prototypes, such as a circular school building and terraced apartments, are being implemented in Azerbaijan for the first time.
"These projects ensure both climate sustainability and social integration of communities," Kovari-Binggeli emphasized.
She added that the same approach is being applied in Kalbajar, where urban development projects are adapted to the mountainous terrain, and green spaces and buildings are integrated into each other.
